“Puffer Week" Enforcement January 15-21

Colorado Auto Theft Investigators (CATI) and Coloradans Against Auto Theft (CAAT) are teaming up the week of January 15-21 to raise public awareness of “puffers”—a term coined by car thieves to describe a vehicle left running unattended.

At least 1,310 drivers in Colorado will be starting off the New Year facing the consequences and expense of a DUI arrest that occurred since a holiday season DUI crackdown began Thanksgiving week.

Colorado gas prices continue to fall

Colorado, December 26- Average retail gasoline prices in Colorado have fallen 5.3 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.07/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.23/g, according to gasoline price website ColoradoGasPrices.com.

RTD to provide free rides on all RTD services on New Year's Eve

Denver – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) once again wants to be your designated driver by offering free rides on all regularly scheduled bus and train service, as well as Access-a-Ride and SkyRide service on New Year’s Eve, Saturday, December 31, from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1. Although the rides will be free, scheduled service hours will not be extended. Plan your New Year’s Eve trip ahead of time by visiting RTD-Denver.com.

Holiday travel tips at Denver International Airport

DENVER -- A busy holiday travel period is approaching at Denver International Airport (DIA), with an estimated 1,090,218 passengers expected during the week of Tuesday, December 20 through Monday, December 26. The passenger forecast provided by DIA’s airlines is 17,505 less than the record breaking 1,107,723 travelers recorded during the comparable period last year.

Daily passenger numbers for the holiday week (December 20-26) are: Tuesday 163,673, Wednesday 170,034, Thursday 171,774, Friday 173,415, Saturday 126,026, Sunday 120,619 and Monday 164,677.

Authorities say Colorado text driving ban hard to enforce

Authorities say a Colorado law banning texting by drivers two years ago is hard to enforce.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office says officers have written only one citation. Fort Collins police have written 41 and Boulder police 15.
